In CO it's about 8 bucks. Trademarking is a much more expensive and involved, and probably unnecessary, project.

Yep. And I think you only need it if you are using a unique business name. I don't think you even need to do that if you keep your name as your business name somehow. Like is you made it "Joe Schmoe Music" or "Schmoe Music". But I know this changes from state to state. You can trademark by state or federally, and there is a big difference in price.
