It's message sending time for the NBA. This is a major black eye for a league that's going to get a lot of negative attention in the mold of the NHL's Bertuzzi/Moore assault. This was a flat disgrace and the punishments should be swift and severe.
I'm hoping to hear about some arrests soon. No way that the players and fans who incited and participated in this riot should just walk away from it.
The problem is, I don't think Wallace deserves that much. I know he "started" it, but let me put it this way: I was at the Nuggets/Twolves game earlier this year, where K-Mart shoved Cassell out of nowhere, and Cassell threw a basketball back at K-Mart. Did I start throwing things at players? Did anybody in the crowd throw anything? The answer is no. Obviously Wallace is going to be associated with the riot, but players push each other all the time, and it doesn't end in the riot. To me, at least, Wallace vs. Artest and Artest/Jackson/O'Neal vs. the city of Detroit are two seperate incidents. I'd give wallace a couple games max for fighting.
