It's not EVERY company. Microsoft pays their employees very well and provides them with great benefits! Wal-Mart pays their employees like sh*t and over half no benefits.
The perception though has its merits. Many companies after reaching a certain level no longer care about their employees nearly as much as they care about huge profits.
