It's interesting to see what Americans view as American food vs. what other countries view as 'American' food. For instance all the brits I know and work with almost always think of 'Mexican' food as quintessential Americana.
That's weird to me. I've always thought of cheeseburgers, hot dogs, chicken wings, fried chicken, Cajun style and BBQ being what most other countries would consider to be "American food". Not to mention the Taco Bells and KFc's of the world, which I hear do quite well over seas.
