After years of practice, our little crowd has certain traditions that have developed. Being creatures of habit it's hard to change things that become "the right thing to do".
Here are some of my/our ways of doing it "the right way".
When the tickets finally arive, I develop a "list" of games, dates, confirmed visitors and tailgate themes ( we started the theme thing WAY before the Broncos)
Then it's time to schedule "days off" after sunday and monday nighters. I used to go to work after late games, but as I get older I prefer to just stay at home after a long day at Mile High.
Then it's time to make the the "main menu list" which is based on the visiting team. The Grub is based either on the Team name, or the home city.
Here are some examples:
Atlanta Falcons, (Bird team)= Bird on the menu
Kansas City, (well known for BBQ)= Anything BBQ
Miami, (Fish team)= Dolphin on the grill
Oakland (low-life, jail dwellers) = "bread and water" for our raider fan visitors
New Orleans, (Creole cooking)= nothing like Jambalaya and BBQ Shrimp
San Diego, (Mexico's neighbor)= Love that mexican food.
New England (eastern coastal team)= Chowda, clams and oyster
Well, i assume the jest of the theme menus are clear, please respond with any suggestions for this years games.
The week before the game, contact "the rest of the gang" and make a list of who's doin' what.
The day before the game is prep time (fill the coolers, drag the chairs, canopies and tables out of the shed, inventory the "consumble supplies", fill the propane bottles and set the meet times.
The morning of the game load up and head out (usually 7-8AM for afternoon games and 10-11AM for night games).
Some folks think I'm nuts, some folks know I'm nuts!
