I can't explain it. I played GTA on PS2 with some friends for a couple hours and that it was a lot of fun. Then I got the Xbox dual-pack (better graphics, faster loading time than PS2) and thought it was repetitive. Steal car, run over people, repeat. Plus I spend a lot of time running around on foot.
But I didn't like Morrowind either. Both games get high marks for you being able to walk around and interact with the virtual world. I found both games boring. I guess I like games that are a little more structured. Spiderman 2 was compared to GTA for its open ended game play, but I haven't played it.
