Steve, that brings back memories of my toyboxes. The first one is round and metal. I have pictures of me throwing everything out and then sitting in it. I was probably around 3 years old. Years later, my wife puts it out to throw away (yes, I saved it when I think my Mom brought over some old stuff) and when she left for work, I took it and stored it in my loft at my warehouse. She has no idea I took it and would love to clean up the metal. 2nd one is what my Dad built and not sure if we still have it somewhere but both are not very safe for a little kids head. Safety issues were not that important in the 70s. I have a few items from my childhood in the 70s and that toybox is never going to be tossed by me!
Yep, some of those toys we had back I wouldn't let my kids play with either.
I kept the top off for that same reason. I wish I had a nickel for all the times I smashed my hands on it. Going to have the wife fix up the top to use as a seat. Thinking about making an alternate top to use as a coffee table.
