Halliburton Energy Services has agreed to plead guilty and pay the maximum fine for destroying evidence in the Deepwater Horizon disaster, the company and the Justice Department said Thursday.

In a statement, Halliburton chose to highlight what it called "the company's significant and valuable cooperation" in the investigation.

Proves that Corporate Crime pays. The $200,000 fine is a drop in the bucket on what additional money Haliburton would have had to pay out in their settlements.
The penalties for such things being monetary is a joke. If I destroy evidence or purger myself, I go directly to jail without collecting my $200. Every person involved in this type of thing at Halliburton should be doing jail time.
