I started smoking over 20 years ago. I
quit smoking on the
4th of July, 2004. Yep, it's been 6 weeks and 2 days (and still counting). I didn't go on the patch, no hypnosis, no other BS. I just flat out said, "I'm done with this". Smoked the last one in my pack and haven't looked back. Ok, I'm lying, I HAVE looked back, but I haven't bought another pack and I haven't bummed one from anyone else. The hardest time to NOT smoke, for me, is when I drink, which I rarely do anymore.
I'm going up to my parents lake place this weekend and I plan on tipping quite a few brew-ha-ha's back. Sitting in the sun, beer in one hand and fishing pole in the other. I don't even care if my line isnt in the water. I just need to get the hell outta dodge for a few days and I'm going to enjoy every minute of it.
Used to drink like a fish. Back nearly 15 years ago, I was a quart-a-day kinda guy. Still drank pretty heavy until the wife got pregnant with my first one and I decided that if she couldn't swill anymore, I should be respectful to that and I hardly drank anymore either. When the kids were still toddlers, I picked up a bad tequilla and other narcotic habit again for a couple of years. One day I finally quit the illegal stuff completely, deciding I didn't want my kids to grow up without a dad (or only seeing him on visitation day) and I cut waaaaaaaay back on the booze as well. now, a couple of times a year I toss back more than my fair share, but for the most part, I behave and only have the occasional cocktail or two now.
Wow.. that was more than you were asking, wasn't it? Sorry.
1) Just quit smoking
2) Only occasional/social drinking at most now.
