Because I'm bored, I decided to look this up. It's happened twice. Reggie White went from 18 in '86 to 21 in '87 (he then "regressed" back to 18 in 88) and Mark Gastineau went from 19 in '83 to 22 in '84. Von could, particularly considering his age, but there is not a single player in the sack-as-a-stat era who I would feel comfortable predicting 18+ sacks for on a consistent basis. It's also worth noting that only four players have had 18+ sacks twice in their entire careers, much less successively (White, Strahan, Ware, Gastineau).
