You could also include a few chickens and ducks (compost their droppings) and goats for milk and cheese (and weed eating). Rabbits are extremely doable too. Beef is on a whole different level of production and cost. I'd love to have a dairy cow, but that's taking the cost, and labor, up another notch as well.
For greens & small fruiting plants (think cherry tomato) - it is very applicable.
