As a guy who is pursuing a Ph.D in economics, I can say that we are expert data-crunchers who excel at finding hidden meaning in abstract numbers. While a doctor of economics isn't necessarily a medical doctor, I'd still trust an economist with health data (especially an epidemiological economist) more than just about anyone else who isn't an MD, lol.
