You are missing the excitement of the cook. The reward makes it taste that much better. I know you are asking, "How can you make bacon taste better than the euphoria I already experience when I rip off a piece of thin sliced pork?"
Trust me on this. Eating Spotted Owl or Bald Eagle taste much better after you killed it instead of it being handed to you on a plate.
