It seems like the environmentalist that have a problem with pipeline would see the advantage of not sending 10 to 15 empty super tankers to the Middle East on a daily basis.
It would also transport tar sands oil through the US, which, if it spills, is about a million times harder to clean up than traditional.
There was a tar sands spill in 2010 in Kalamazoo, MI on the Kalamazoo River. They still haven't been able to clean it up.
