Well the thread is getting derailed but my thoughts:
I moved to Florida about a year and a half ago and I was so sick of the waits to see a doctor, I was ready to go off my medicine and say F it. The wife insisted we keep trying and I've now found a PA and I couldn't be happier with her. She's thorough, timely, and in a world where all they do is evaluate me and send me to a specialist (if needed) based on a flow chart, I've long wondered why the person needed to be an MD.
I sit in lecture halls all the time filled with 200+ people that want to become doctors but only a very small fraction ever will. Make the PA route more attractive by making them the first line of service in the medical industry and everyone wins. The only ones who would have an issue are the crybabies that think the worst MD is still better than the best PA.
