I think that an inappropriate line has been crossed with this particular conspiracy theory. This office that does the job reports is no more political than your local DMV or post office (in fact, I suspect that many if not most of the economists and other officials working there are Republican). Very poor form, they're simply releasing data that you don't like, and you're casting aspersions on their honor rather than dealing with it.

It does seem that the Republicans have moved into a "I'm very disappointed that the country is recovering" mindset.

It's politically inconvenient. And that's all that matters to them.
