"I want to talk about the team," said Cabrera, batting .444 with four homers and 15 RBIs during an 11-game hitting streak in Minnesota. "There's too many distractions right now and been talking too much about triple crowns. I pull too much attention. I don't want to do that. I want to go out there and play my game."
I'm not even sure any of us can appreciate how big a distraction this must be, and how heavy a weight it is on Cabrera's shoulders. I mean honestly, this is an achievement that hasn't been earned in 45 years, and it's not like it's some obscure record like Darwin Barney the other night shooting for Polanco's errorless streak record.
This is a prestigious achievement, and Cabrera's got to be feeling it. I really hope he pulls it out. As a baseball fan, I kinda feel like I do when I'm watching a perfect game, no matter who's pitching. It's good for the game to see it happen.
