Your substance remark is totally baffling...by eliminating the dross, The Hives are restoring
substance to the music...it makes it's point without the flab and the BS showmanship...the very essence of what punk was about in the first place.
The Hives lead singer doesn't have the run of the mill, obligatory Warped Tour whiny MTV2 voice....and, unlike The Vines, they touch base and transcend their roots....they're closer to The Stokes more than anything else....another band that transcends their influences effectively (even though ames disagrees with that statement).
...and what you consider "watered down" I consider stripped free of unnecessary bullshat.
There's nothing wrong in being catchy either....again, look at my decent answer to retro, Jet....Jet is damn catchy with strong material. The difference is that The Darkness doesn't have that and they have a lead singer who has a operetic yodel that is just horrific....if you like that garbage, that's fine...we are all allowed our guilty pleasures...but don't be trying to pass it off as something of value to me....I know better.
Just curious about this Hogan cause I know it has to piss you off, how do you like Jet doing "Pepsi Smash" concerts with Green Day and Good Charlotte?
It just has to get you a bit upset because I know your feelings on Green Day and Good Charlotte, while one of you fave bands now is on the same bill as them.
