IMO
The reason it was easier for Reagan to get along with the opposition is because they still had control of Congress. Democrats got their way much of the time against Reagan. Democrats no longer have the leverage of Congressional control so they resort to creating division and shreiking about how horrible it is. If you haven't seen efforts by Bush to reach out to Dems then I don't think you follow the presidency very closely.
