Sample size. Like how Josh Hamilton hit .177 in July and .360 with 21 homeruns in April and May.
I'd be willing to bet Ichiro is more the .280 hitter than the .300+ hitter.
You're missing the key thing though, who will sign him? Surround him with talent, what high up there team wants to spend a lot of money on an average outfielder?
