I use an old school safety razor - The gilette 1903 but there are plenty of options.

Combine with a proper blade - feather is the sharpest, I still use them a lot but have been experimenting a little more recently. Wilkerson Sword is a solid brand.

Safety razor will run you around $30 and the blades are 10 to 25c each depending on quantity/brand. I use each blade for 3 shaves(if done daily) but could go further I just love the feel of a very sharp blade and they are so cheap.

I now much prefer this to a straight blade. I have gotten proficient enough that the shave is just as close save a couple of ackward spots under my chin. It takes much less time than a straight, there is no hassle of stropping/sharpening blades. While I do think a freshly sharpened straight is hard to beat once it gets even a little dull there is a significant drop off in the shave and the replaceable blades are easily better.
