I think the closest modern example would be the Steelers. Big Ben is solid, but I wouldn't put his passing ability in the same league as Brees, Rogers, or even Eli. Their offensive production is generally middle-of-the-road to below average. Ben's enough of an athlete to scrape some things together out of nothing, but the Steelers aren't out there winning shootouts.
