We've mocked the concept for years but someone is actually trying it. This girl's school deemed it against the rules in their dress code for a student to have a nose ring. She claims it's part of her religion (The Church of Body Modification) and wants it defended.
Ivey describes the church as a non-theistic faith that draws people who see tattoos, piercings and other physical alterations as ways of experiencing the divine.
"We don't worship the god of body modification or anything like that," he said. "Our spirituality comes from what we choose to do ourselves. Through body modification, we can change how we feel about ourselves and how we feel about the world."

We used to call that a club. If I think I can connect with god through getting a hummer in the back of the class, can I organize and make it protected? Where does it stop? We need to reign that sillyness in.
