I am on my second Samsung Instinct, which was one of their first 3G phones they had. My first one was chewed up by a baby huskie. It's still an awesome phone, but doesn't have all the perks the new phone has. Hearing the thing about the battery sucks. My Instinct needed about one full charge a day to work, but I was able to save and hoard four batteries for it after replacing it the first time.
If you could let me know about how the camera works and takes pictures, that'd be awesome as well.

The battery isn't great, but they did an update on the phone about a month ago that seems to have helped quite a bit, at least for me. Also, if you just get an app killer, you can do a pretty good job of shutting down apps you aren't using and it extends the life tremendously. I don't know how heavily you use yours, but I spend a lot of time on mine, I use it for GPS, internet, email, music, and play games on it when I'm bored. On days when I'm using it Moderate-Heavy I can get by on a single charge for the whole day. On days when I'm using it a ton and have Google Maps and GPS running in the background, I usually have to charge at some point in the afternoon.
The camera is fantastic. Takes great pictures, especially in good lighting. Dark pictures it struggles with a little, but they are still better than any other camera phone I've ever seen or used, and the HD video is out of this world. Plus it looks great when you hook it up to your TV with the HDMI out.
If you are happy with Sprint's service, I'd highly reccomend the Evo. I absolutely love mine.
