Like I said, they're immersed in a lot of Asian culture but it rarely extends past the tribes culture, dress and occasionally their hair, and yes the water tribe is tanner than the rest of the tribes, but how people drew specific conclusions is silly. It's a cartoon.

The drawing style is actually influenced heavily by anime, so I don't understand where you're getting that it's all white features from.
