Gore out "approximately three weeks"

The San Francisco 49ers, eschewing the top-secret approach that plenty of teams apply to matters of injury and rehab, have announced that an MRI performed on running back Frank Gore reveals a "right ankle strain and a right hind foot sprain."
The team says that he'll be out approximately three weeks.
The 49ers also announced that tackle Joe Staley has a right quad contusion, and is day-to-day.
Also, safety Reggie Smith has a right groin strain, and he'll be re-evaluated in two weeks.
Though we appreciate the candor, we're confused by the team's willingness to go beyond that which the injury-reporting rules require. The Niners are compelled to say nothing until Wednesday, and then all that's required is whether and to what extent the players practiced.
