Absolutely. Cops can get in alot of trouble for ignoring subpoenas and blowing off court, plus they get overtime, usually 4 hours worth. It's rather rare for a cop to not show up for court, plus the courts are always willing to work around their schedules.
And with a trooper, they probably would be
more vigilant since they live and die off traffic citations. They take that stuff pretty seriously where a city/county police officer might not.
If they have that driving course that keeps the points off his license that would be the smart move as it's a sure thing.
