The other "Trick" is to manipulate your insulin levels prior/post work out... Keep in mind the biggest reason for modern day Bodybuilders bouncing around the 300lb level is insulin and IGF-1. A few grams of dextrose with a whey/cassien/creatine drink will make a significant difference.

As for insulin manipulation, am aware. Post workout shake contains the simple carbs to spike insulin to inject complex carbs and protein straight to muscles for synthesis, or whatever the reason you chem geeks say
