No. I wanted to stay true to the original style. I upgraded the coil springs from a 380# rate to a 620#. I replaced all the old bushings with urethane, and put a 1-1/8 sway bar in the front instead of the very small sway bar that was in it. In the rear I replaced the 4leaf leaf springs with a 5 leaf set up and added a sway bar. There was no sway bar in the original set up. Of course there is a traction bar and urethane replacements in the rear. I also replaced the original drum brakes with a 4 wheel Wilwood dynalite disc brake uprade.
The Mustang II is definately the way to go in most cases. In my particular case, I wanted to maintain the classic configuration. But I am thinking of bolting in an aftermarket rack and pinion. The current steering box (though brand new) is a 4 turn lock to lock instead of a 3 turn lock to lock like the rack would be.
With these upgrades, all the sway and rocking that the car used to have in the turns is gone. It stick in the corners like the newer technology. The ride isn't as smooth, but it also puts the power to the ground well.
