GIANTS OPTIMISTIC JACOBS WILL PLAY AGAINST PANTHERS

Posted by Tim MacMahon on December 19, 2008, 4:24 p.m.

Coach Tom Coughlin is planning to have running back Brandon Jacobs for the Giants’ battle with the Panthers, which could decide the NFC’s top seed. Jacobs is officially listed as questionable with a knee injury that caused him to miss last week’s loss to the Cowboys.

“Jacobs has practiced, really, all three days,” Coughlin said Friday, per the NFL Network’s Adam Schefter. “Barring something that would be a setback –- which means we have to see tomorrow morning, basically –- and hopefully he will go.”

Jacobs has been optimistic all week that he’d play Sunday. Matter of fact, he told a group of teachers Tuesday that he should have played last week.
