Tarvaris Jackson will remain the Vikings’ starting quarterback for at least one more week.

Sean Jensen of the Pioneer Press reports that Vikings offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell said Jackson will start Sunday against the Falcons and Gus Frerotte will back him up.

“I think it’s big for him,” Bevell said. “He had an opportunity that was presented to him, and he played well in the opportunity, and he showed progression, so as long as he continues do that, then that bodes well for him for his future.”

The news comes two days after head coach Brad Childress declined to say whether Jackson or Frerotte was the starter. It’s not clear how much of the decision to start Jackson is because of his strong play Sunday against the Cardinals, and how much is because Frerotte is still hurting from a back injury.
