This could be a good pick up for somebody bates is a solid role player..

The Toronto Maple Leafs have placed left wing Bates Battaglia on waivers at noon ET Monday. If he has not claimed by noon Tuesday the veteran can be sent down to the Toronto Marlies of the AHL.

Battaglia, 31, has played in only 13 of the Leafs 30 games this season and has no points. He has dressed for only two of the past 17 games and will not likely dress for the Leafs game against the Tampa Bay Lightning at the Air Canada Centre tonight.

With a relatively healthy lineup, the Leafs also have a seldom-used John Pohl at their disposal. He has been a healthy scratch seven times this season.
