Ian Laperriere, the popular veteran right wing with the Avalanche, will be out of the lineup for the next two to four weeks.

Laperriere suffered a sprained right knee in the first period of Sunday's game with the Minnesota Wild. Laperriere got tangled up in a scrum around the Avs' net after a faceoff and went down.

"Lappy's been playing extremely well, so it's a tough loss," Avs coach Joel Quenneville said.

His absence should create more playing time for Scott Parker, who was a healthy scratch against the Wild.
