You hate when people have an opinion on a game that THEY think its the best. Thats retarded. Pretty much everything you have said in here is retarded. You dont like FPS, you dont like Halo, great. That, like the guy who thinks Halo is the greatest game ever (for me, that title will always belong to Starcraft), is an OPINION. No more valid than the next opinion and in a thread for Halo fans, a worthless one.

When people say greatest game of all time, I think of games that revolutionized gaming and came up with something nobody had ever done before.
Zelda? Did that.
Final Fantasy(1-7)? Did that. I will agree the later ones, although 10 was alright, kinda was a sellout.
MGS? Questionable really IMO. The story aspect can not be touched though.
Halo? Yes, and no. FPS were already there, and better on the PC. Half-Life for example. The thing they revolutionized though was online play for consoles.
Starcraft, like you pointed out, really sparked the RTS movement. Sure, there were others, but Starcraft was amazing.
World of Warcraft is another game. Go ahead and talk down about it, and the people who play it, but it has turned out to be the greatest MMORPG ever and its Burning Crusade expansion had the best 1st day of sales ever, which Halo 3 probably will break.
To me, Halo 1 would be on the list of greatest games in gaming history because of the "revolution" it sparked. Now if a game doesn't have an online component to it, its looked down upon. So, Halo 1 deserves to be up there. Halo 2 and Halo 3? I don't really think so. Although I never though the game was spectacular, Halo 1 deserves to be up there, but I wouldn't say at the #1 spot.
And besides, like you said, its all based on opinion and everybody's list will be different. For single games, I'd have Zelda, FF1, MGS, World of Warcraft and Halo 1 in my top 5. Sure, someone else might have the same games, but in different orders. I highly doubt anyone here would have the same list of games.
