Steve Ramsey's tenure in Denver was considered average for sure. He was derided by many fans and played a prominent role in the formation of the Dirty Dozen that ousted John Ralston in early 1977.
Ralston had openly stated his displeasure with Ramsey, and then reversed his comments saying he felt the Broncos could win it all with Ramsey as their starting Quarterback. This waffling on Ramsey may have been the final straw, that forced a players only meeting that led to Ralston's firing.
Many Broncos historians consider his trade to the Giants for Craig Morton, as the 2nd best trade in team history, only behind the one that landed Elway.
Despite what some may feel, Steve Ramsey is still ranked 5th or 6th all time in many Broncos passing records and statistical categories.
And he was a part of our family, starting 23 games at QB for the Broncos.
His family and many others deserve to be treated alot better than this.
If anyone would like to help find photos, articles, clippings, I have the families address and will be happy to pass along.
