The MICRO-world is even more mind-boggling:
If the entire volume of a simple noble gas atom was placed against a template of a wall-less 14-story building, 1/2 city block wide and 1/2 city block deep, that atom's nucleus (which accounts for 96% of the its mass) would be the size of a raisin, hovering on about the 7th floor. The 2-5 electrons orbitting that raisin would have the mass of tiny pebbles or perhaps grains of sand. The remainder of the atom's mass is space. Just plain space.
