If Callahan wanted a new head trainer, for whatever reason, I don't think it had to do with Callahan caring less about building a "family" environment. Maybe he and Ostergard didn't see eye to eye on a lot of things. Maybe Callahan just thinks someone else could do a better job. Either way, I don't think the former players are really in the position to be so critical of a head coach making staffing decisions.

that is fairly critical of the Solich years and how he ran things.
It does sound like Kingston is being nostalgic but many of the NU fans that I have talked to are fearful of Cally and Pederson "abandoning" the past. By that they meant that it's fine if the offense is going to change but that former coaches, players and all the things that have made Nebraska football are not received all that well. I have no idea if this is true or not, just what some NU folks had said.
There was the same fallout/backlash when Doc Kries was fired from CU 4-5 years ago.
