The NBA has a soft cap, unlike the NFL and NHL, so they don't need to fit with a cap. They'll need to pay tax, and looks like Kroenke has decided to do it. And that's great for us fans, it would be a shame if we couldn't land AI because we have an owner who wasn't willing to pay the tax.
On the other hand, you can expect ticket prices to go up a lot next season...
