I think that in respect to mail, there is no requirement that the mailer stop sending you junk as opposed to the Do Not Call Lists where a violator can be fined and/or sued in some instances.
I pick up my mail daily and at least half of it goes straight to the trash can before it even gets in the door.
I always send back empty prepaid envelopes - they have to pay the postage ( I know it is just spite but it makes me feel better). I used to have a friend who would attach prepaid envelopes to heavy packages of dirt, etc. I saw him send a big box of old Playboys, etc to some religious group once on theri dime.
Be sure to shred all of those credt apps and balance transfer checks you get
