I think it's because we got so close, seemed so good and then melted so quickly. It was like a tease, and we're still getting over it. The other "problem" is that our defense is playing at a level that's unheard of and many of us feel that rare, once in a lifetime squad is being wasted and are frustrated to have to watch it. I think if we sucked people wouldn't be as nervous and frantic.
I'd be curious to see what would happen if the team went 4-12 one year. Hopefully I won't ever satisfy that curiosity.
This place would explode if the team went 4-12. Hell people are nasty when Denver loses in preseason, an extended losing streak would have people challenging each other to fist fights.
I think the frustration is because Shanahan has produced a such superior product for so long that because it not up to those standards, the fans are itching at the bit. And because Plummer is the central player in this drama, and isn't meeting anyone's expectation, he getting it from both barrels. Denver offense is a victim of it own past success, because the system has been so successful over the years.
