Satchel Paige

Paige pitched for several Negro League teams to help boost attendance but he was best known for the days he spent with the Pittsburgh Crawfords and Kansas City Monarchs.

MLB Cleveland Indians, St. Louis Browns, Kansas City Royals

-Power pitcher with an infamous, windmill delivery during his Negro League days of the 1920s, 30s and 40s

-Later used his intuitiveness to fool big league batters as a 40ish pitcher

-Colorful guy who loved to put on a show for the fans

-Called his curveball his 'be ball' "because it be where I want it to be"

-Played with Josh Gibson in Pittsburgh to form possibly baseball's greatest battery ever

-Dizzy Dean once said, "If me and Satch were together in St. Louis, we could clinch the pennant by July and go fishing from then until World Series time"

-Paige barmstormed throughout the 40s and 50s and posted a 2.88 earned run average for Portland of the Pacific Coast League in 1961 at the age of 55

-At 59, pitched three innings for the Kansas City Athletics allowing zero runs to the Boston Red Sox
