Josh Gibson, C, Homstead Grays/Pittsburgh Crawfords.
Gibson is considered by many to be the best catcher in baseball history, even though his Negro League stats are probably not totally valid (not that it's Gibson's fault he couldn't play in a league with better stat keeping).
Bill James has him rated as the 9th best player of all-time, the Sporting News 18th.
Gibson died at age 35 of a stroke, 3 months before Jackie Robinson broke the color barrier.
