When HD becomes standard and economy of scale brings the price down to about 1K I will make the jump. I'll get the whole shebang when I jump. In for a penny, in for a pound with that stuff.
I have always felt Sony lives off it's name and wasn't any more, or perhaps less reliable than other companies. I got a Symphonic 20" flatscreen on a post turkey day sale at Wally World for 96 bucks and it's the best, brightest picture I have ever had. Please Lord, don't let me go into a Superstore and see the Broncos on HD. Salesmen are laydown shoppers because they witness the angst people put themselves thru for no reason. I'm the type that starts pointing at stuff faster than they can retrive it out of the back.
All that said, I know dick about HDTV. I just know it's got freakish quality. You could ask Chef from South Park, he had a killer machine, literally, but Chef has passed. I'm not the person to ask about HD. Didn't mean I wouldn't rant tho.

Good Luck. Are you going to have a burial ceremony for your wabbit ears?
