100 pages about nothing. And we have the quotes to prove it. Nah, not really...

John Fox maintained Thursday afternoon that the Broncos will have a "wide-open competition" at quarterback, but admitted, for the first time, that "deep down, I have an idea" who will be No. 1 when the season starts according to Woody Paige of the Denver Post.

He did say: "I prefer a gamer to a good practice player... I want someone who will execute under pressure in a game."

Fox, who currently is a coach without players because of the on-going lockout, pointed out: "We do have a depth chart."

"I've not seen those three quarterbacks in one practice yet."

Which of our three QB's does that describe?

Orton is a gamer as long as it isn't third down.

bowtown 07-07-2011 06:06 PM

Whatever, Orton games even in his sleep.

Guaranteed tebow and Quinn pull better than that.

epicSocialism4tw 07-07-2011 06:12 PM

If Tebow is nothing else, he's a gamer.

Archer81 07-07-2011 06:19 PM

Some forum members heads will explode.

Luckily, Tebow can heal the blasted out skulls.

You mean Orton goes to the games, nothing more.

If he can't heal 'em, he sure can circumsize 'em.

Well everyone knows that you never wear pink top with leopard print pants if you don't want your boobies to look like blobs.

I was thinking what I usually think of when I hear 'gamer'

tebow will start and orton will turn into a draft pick july 21st

Dagmar 07-07-2011 07:44 PM

It's obvious here in town, people would rather try and be open to the possibility of failure with Tim Tebow than "settle" for Orton who at best will get us to mediocre.

I'm not gonna lie. I did that with the power glove. About the only thing it was good for.

Bronco Yoda 07-07-2011 09:15 PM

I still have all the old NES stuff... or should I say the kids have it now. I'm going to replicate this outfit less the pants and see if it turns on the wife. A little role playing never hurt anyone. What name should I call myself?

GoHAM 07-07-2011 09:33 PM

"I prefer a gamer to a good practice player... I want someone who will execute under pressure in a game."

Attn: Tennessee, Seattle, Minnesota, Arizona, etc.

Kyle Orton is available for a reasonable price.

That's the key thing. I strongly support Tebow myself and want to see him start because I really believe in his ability to truly redefine the position after a little while.

Nonetheless, I get the feeling that Fox is saying stuff like this because he has management breathing down his neck for the reasons you have listed above. People want Tebow. Tebow sells tickets and jerseys and one of the very few things the old man is keenly aware of is money. In his heart of hearts, I think Fox would actually strongly prefer a safe, conservative choice like Orton, but it's not his call and he has to do what he's told from above.
For once, management is actually doing something that isn't utterly horrible.

Wait, what?

I agreed with everything you said until the last sentence and a half..... You actually prefer the 'Skins, Raiders & Cowboys style of "management" where personnel decisions are made by anyone who is not the HC?

Odd.
