Let's see the desktops! (2010)

Can't go WIndows 7 yet, I still need to replace some of my legacy software, which has been expensive. But I should be rolling W7 64-bit after the holidays.

^ Cool!

Is that Photoshop 5.0 I see there?

Dude, that desktop would be 10 times cooler if the amp went to 11.

Very nice indeed. The blue veneer is a new one on me, must be after market ... a VERY slick customization.

Riddle: What do you get when you add the following: 6L6 quared + 12AX7 squared ?

Photoshop 6.0 actually ... one of the titles I'm having to upgrade before I can go to Windows 7.

* Actually instead of PS, I settled for the less expensive Photoshop Elements v.9, the powder blue rectangle icon. That was $80.

* Wordperfect X5 there, a $145 upgrade up from my v.11.

* Dragon Nat Speaking 7 up to (the lesser-featured Premium Edition of) 11, about $90.

* From MS Office 2000 (old but I liked it), to 2003 (a used upgrade disk off Craigslist no less), $40 more.

* Lest we forget Windows itself ... $120 for a W7 64-bit OEM disk.

And still a couple more to go. Plus this stupid Microsoft W7 Compatibility site seems vaguely more sales oriented than informational. So after dropping about $750 building a new desktop last winter, they're really bleeding me dry with all this crap. They could have at least bought me dinner and drinks beforehand.

Windows f'ing 7 better be f'ing worth it.

F'ers.

Win7 has its own compatibility wizard that allows you to keep your older software by specifying which version of Windows the software worked with.

That amp was a limited edition - Fender only made a few hundred of them.

The nicest thing about it is the speaker: a 12" Celestion Blue w/ alnico magnet. Sounds gorgeous!

As for that riddle, I have no idea, but it must be loud! ;D

Yeah I looked at that, I nearly kept my WordPerfect, but honestly the whole virtual PC thing kinda sucks. It's a bit clunky, the one's I've used anyway, and after all, why bu a new OS if you're running your programs in Virtual-Old-OS mode?

No answer really, just a tube thing to see who might get it.

Crap, you're right. It's not a 64-bit distinction like I thought, it's that W7 Home Edition doesn't have that feature. I was testing on a friend's W7 - Home Edition - so I was led astray.

I did return Dragon, so the damage is not so bad really. Thanks for the wake up on that.
