2002 Trailblazer - need some help
I have the opportunity to buy a 2002 trailblazer.
But here's the deal. I found the VIN is within the spec for a recall/bulletin for a problem with a cylinder liner. 2002 Chevrolet TrailBlazer VIN # 22100007 to 22358861 (this one is: 22202652). I've been trying to research to see if all the engines came from the same plant, or how widespread this failure is. If anyone can provide me with any information that can assist me in making this decision - i'd be much appreciated. |
Don't even think about buying unless the seller can prove the official recall/replacement was already taken care of.

The engine hasn't been replaced because it hasn't failed. I talked to my buddy's dad who works in the dealership and he said they haven't really had any that have come through with this failure.
I was trying to see if all the engines were made at the same plant, or if the ones that failed were made at a different plant - but have been unable to find this information via the internet. I also know of a few people who have them, and they haven't had any problems (so far). Again, i'm hesitant, but it's a good buy - and i'm just trying to be real educated about it. I do appreciate your comment - and i'm full aware of this issue - i'm just trying to gain a certain level of "probability" with this possible purchase. |
Gotcha.
Seems weird though that they wouldn't have gotten the part replaced. By definition, the whole point of a recall is to notify affected owners that they need to go in and replace the part BEFORE it breaks. |
my bad it's a service bulliten
