Only if its one of those dumbass truckers that drives next to you for like 5 miles then decides to get in your lane without any warning.

I run into this alot , I get over for merging traffic , sure as **** , there will be some dumbass that speeds up when I do or slows down as I do or some idiot day dreaming you go to pass him he realizes he is driving slow then he speeds up trapping us in the hammer lane ....... People in cars dont have the first clue about driving

Why do you ******* drive in the fast lane Spidey? As for the video, it wouldn't bother me to be blocked in by those trucks, but the first chance I had to flip them off and get around them I'd take it!

On a side note, did you hear about the parking lot CDOT made in Eagle, CO Spider? Here's a link to the story and vid.
http://www.9news.com/news/article.as...=top&catid=188

I tried to Embed the vid but their website sucks.

;D excellent idea , I wish more states did this .......

Spider 12-12-2008 08:05 PM

+ these parking lots like this will stop the fights we get into over our trucks Idling all night ...... It is obvious they need more of these or build more truckstops even for good weather , getting parking anymore is a task .........

I hate driving the highway here dealing with those rigs.

I get the hell out of the way for fear of being crushed.

well what happened was that guy in the car used the shoulder to pass those rigs , they boxed him in to teach him a lesson , there could have been a broke down car there , or someone needing to pull over ........

Yeah stupid move, could of killed someone.

Happened to me in my accident back in 02, broke down on the side of the road, car tried to pass on the shoulder, nailed me next thing I know I'm at the hospital.

I seen people breaking traffic laws everyday out there, why is no one ever sited.

sorry to hear about that , there is a time and place for speeding , darting in and out of traffic isnt the place nor the time ..

Spider 12-13-2008 08:57 AM

I will be honest , I have taken part in Boxing in a car , slowed him down to 20 MPH for for a bit ....tuned out ot be an off duty cop , needless to say he wasnt impressed , but no tickets were issued .........we pointed out to the highway patrol that he was blinding everyone with his high beams darting in and out of traffic , and hitting speeds well over 90 MPH cutting his lane changes short etc .......

I'd say I'm a pretty safe driver for the most part.

Its like thunder dome on the roads here.

And I admit I hate those big rigs but respect them just the same.

;D I wish more people did , just like yesterday coming through Denver , coming up to the Alameda exit , some fool decided that he needed that exit and brought me to a complete stop .. I was bob tailing was it was all I could do to keep that truck in one lane and not hitting other cars ........ i got stopped in time , didnt go sideways , but I followed that azzhole ...... he wouldnt stop started going down roads I am not allowed on ...... I dont know if I would have punched him , but I sure in the hell was going to let him now how stupid he is and how close he came to being in the morgue or hospital .....

Spider I posted this a while back not sure you ever saw it. I was coming back from Disneyland about a month ago at night with my family coming down the north side of the Grapevine here in Ca when I noticed the runaway truck ramp off the left side of the road which I thought was interesting because I always remember them being off to the right when I lived in Colo.

Two minutes later when we were almost at the bottom of the hill a rig shot by me doing 100+ and missing my car and family by about two feet as the poor guy was doing his best to keep it under control in the far left lane swerving to the left guard wall to miss the car in front of him causing the whole right side to come off the ground amid the smell of scorched brake, grey smoke and flying debris everywhere. Fortunately he missed the car and the truck didn't jackknife. I think he ended up ok because we never saw an accident but I had to pull over for a while and my wife and I didn't speak for about 3 minutes. The kids were watching a movie on a dvd player so they never realized what happened.

Why post this here? Two reasons - 1. drive safe dude, I've never seen anything like that in my life and it has to be a truckers worst nightmare.
2. But for pure luck on my part that I didn't blindly pull into the next lane when he was coming down the hill and the skill on the truckers part not running up the back of us or we'd all be dead. Someone looked after us that night. But i do have a question would you at least try to honk and let cars know you were coming? Not a peep out of this guy.

Best thing to do to get out of the "trucker's box" is to just take the foot off the gas pedal and slow down to a crawl if need be....these guys are usually on time schedules and generally don't do slow so if you hold them up some, they will eventually pass you.

Sometimes you have to fight assholism with assholism

First off , that was complete driver error , he screwed up , I have only been in that situation once in 22 years , i was pulling Laveta pass crested it , dropped the drive line , free wheeling , I laid on that air horn , every light I had was on ....... i got her stopped by hitting the guard rail over and over .....

I never said stop, one of my iron rules of the road is that you never stop for anyone, especially aggressive drivers...I said slow down to a crawl and old lady drive it till you get an opening to break out or they abandon the box.

It's unlikely that's going to happen on a semi-crowded Interstate....I'd say chances are good the trucks would abandon the box in that case.
If that doesn't work then cell phone 911 and alert the authorities to a hazardous condition on the roadway and let the State police take care of it.

Not a smart move since you would have been caught on video like that guy was , alot of us now use dash cams .........

Spider 12-13-2008 04:01 PM

you would get the ticket , not us

The video would only prove the truckers were acting in concert with each other to create the traffic hazard...as such they would each get a ticket for unsafe operation and anything else they could pin on you guys after on site vehicle inspections. At least that's the way it works in NY.

I wouldn't bet a dime on that if'n I was you

if you say so ......... and on sight Vehicle inspections happen all the time , we are prepared for it , but you are off the mark on the ticket part , specially after the officers sees tire tracks .......

Spider 12-13-2008 04:23 PM

and to get technical the car is also tailgating , i still havent seen anything unsafe from the truckers ........ the backdoor still has a 4 second tail
