Jones vs. Tarver
Most of the fight was in the middle of the ring. Jones had his way with Tarver there. Jones landed shots at will, and clearly out boxed Tarver there. Tarver did get in some shots on a tired Jones while Jones was on the ropes and in the corner. I'll give Tarver that much. But I still had Jones winning 8 rounds to 4. Tarver won the first 2 rounds, than Jones won the next 5, and won the last 3. Tarver won 8 and 9. The punch stats are even in Jones' favor. Jones landed more power punches and at a higher percentage. If Tarver had done more in the middle of the ring he may have pulled out the victory. A tired Jones was at his worse and still had more than enough to beat Tarver. This was in no way a fix. Most people were going for the underdog, and because Jones didn't look good they want to just give the fight to Tarver. He flat out got beat and out classed by a better fighter. A few flurries on the ropes isn't good enough to win the fight.
Maybe if Jones wasn't out handpicking the worst living heavyweight opponents still breathing, he could do a better job in his real weight class.
On second thought, who cares?
History will not be kind to Reluctant Roy.
