OT: Samuel update
I meant to get this up during the bye week, but it just didn't happen. Sam had an awesome summer. We took bike rides which he loves (thanks to all of you here), and we went to a small carnival and he loves riding the Tilt-a-Whirl.
Unfortunately our fall has not been as good. I noticed that one of Sam's legs was about an inch longer than the other. After taking him to Children's it was determined that the shorter leg was a result of his hip coming out of its socket. The other hip was doing the same thing as well, so it was determined that he had to have surgery. They released soft tissue on both of the hips, and on the left one they had to cut the femur and insert two steel plates to get it to go into the socket at a better angle. He seems to be getting over the surgery now. It has been just a little over two weeks now. Those first three days without even a smile were gut wrenching. The problem is that he cannot eat without vomiting it all back up. It is to the point that he no longer eats anything by mouth and is strickly being tube fed. Even then he is still throwing it all back up. This is the most worried I have been about him in a very long time. The doctors did not expect Sam to live past two, and here he is now four years old. He is a strong little boy who only knows joy. Please pray for him to get past this latest obstacle. |
Wow Falconer. This is crushing to me...I can't even imagine what it must be for all of you.
Thoughts and prayers for Sam and for the whole family. This year sucks, |
Prayers for Sam and your family.

Ooof. These stories just rip my guts out.....my 6 month old is named Sam as well. Sam, you and your dad and family will be in our prayers. Be strong.
|
Wow, the strength and courage of your family is amazing. God bless
|
I will keep him close in my thoughts.
Hang in there! |
Oh man....poor little dude. Damn, he had that same inability to keep food down when he was a baby.
Hopefully he will overcome that soon and get things back to normal at home. Thinking of Sam and your family, Falconer. |
Thoughts and prayers are with you Sam and family. we are all looking forward to seeing that next picture of that fabulous smile.
|
Wow, Poor little guy. I only pray he gets better. You and your family are in my prayers always. Do the Doctors even have a clue? Is it a reaction to the anesthesia?
|
my thoughts and prayers will continue to go out to Sam and your family.

I am sure that the anesthesia did not help, as Sam has a hard time with that. However, he had started throwing up some before he had the surgery. Now it is every time he eats though. We get so worried sitting there beside him trying to hold him upright so he won't throw it back up. He does it anyway and you just want to cry. He then looks up at you with his big blue eyes and gives you the biggest grin; like to say don't worry about me dad I have it covered. |
Falconer, Please give Sam a hug from all of his friends at the Mane. We all have him in our thoughts and prayers.
|
God bless Sam.....
|
I know sometimes Prayer beats the heck out of Doctors. Stay strong Falconer and give Sam a big hug for me.
