What "extras" do you have on your computer?

I'm browsing through Windows marketplace and they have a lot of "extras"...anything you guys recommend? Right now I am looking at add-ons for IE 7.

Pulled up your link, and was surprised with some of the add-on's available out there. Guess I wouldn't be the one to ask, as I'm a "less is better" kind of guy.

agreed. IE sucks.

Orange_Beard 08-15-2007 09:57 AM

I use mouse gestures on Firefox. Take a minute to get used to, now I can't live without them.

Sassy 08-15-2007 11:26 AM

dang vista and it's "security"...It won't let me enable quicktime and it's already on the pc.All I did was try to update it.

El Guapo 08-15-2007 11:56 AM

vista is crap as well. ha!

Sassy 08-15-2007 12:49 PM

tell me about it...

I'm telling it to "allow" certain things on downloads and it won't let me ;D
Is there a specific thing I should "enable"...???
Even in emails it won't let me open attachments.

TailgateNut 08-15-2007 01:17 PM

I don't know how I was able to function without my Wireless mobile broadband card for so many years. It's great to be able to access the internet from anywhere at anytime. considering the cost, it's GRRRREAT!

BroncoBuff 08-16-2007 12:56 AM

I like Google stuff a lot ... I have Google accelerator and IE toolbar. It's nice to have the search bar right there when you need it, without having to go to the site first (I can't remember how you make the results open in a new window though ???)

Here's some Google add-ons worth a look: http://pack.google.com/intl/en/pack_...gl=us&ciNum=11

Sassy 08-16-2007 01:06 AM

Ugh...does anyone have the dreaded vista OS ?
It's driving me nuts. Security blocks on everything...and even when I click "allow" it won't do it. I can't even get attachments out of my email.
Oh yeah, and WINDOWS LIVE EMAIL sucks...it won't copy/paste as usual because the tech told me when it updated it was meant for IE 6 Not IE 7. Blah...My yahoo email will copy/paste and works much better! Whats the point of having all these features if VISTA security blocks them all! ALEC HELP!

Sassy, you just need to turn off User Account Controls.

1. Open Control Panel.

2. Under User Account and Family settings click on the "Add or remove user account".

3. Click on one of the user accounts, under the user account click on the "Go to the main User Account page" link.

4. Under "Make changes to your user account" click on the "Change security settings" link.

5. In the "Turn on User Account Control (UAC) to make your computer more secure" click to unselect the "Use User Account Control (UAC) to help protect your computer". Click on the Ok button.

You will be prompted to reboot your computer. Do so when ready.

Sassy 08-16-2007 01:55 AM

Why would I be removing a user account? The only user on it is me...and I've looked...I don't see any of that stuff.

Sassy 08-16-2007 01:57 AM

It has me as admin and "guest" turned off.

Sassy 08-16-2007 02:04 AM

Could it be the dang Phishing filter? Mine isn't exactly setup the way you said, but I was in my security stuff.

Willynowei 08-16-2007 02:17 AM

No, don't erase your account.

On your account settings look for account security settings or something of that nature.

You want to turn of the UAC, or that annoying pop up that asks you questions every 3 minutes right?

Sassy 08-16-2007 02:34 AM

No...the user accounts didn't really have anything when I clicked on them. The settings were to the side of it...I clicked on security...but didn't find any UAC...or popup stuff? No, I want it to allow unsigned programs that I approved be me the administrator.

Sassy 08-16-2007 02:37 AM

Allow a program through a firewall?

I'm not able to open some attachments on email or when I go to update Quicktime...which was already on the computer...it's a new PC...it tells me do I want to bypass security and allow it? I say yes, it says restart and still doesn't allow me to access the program...says it's blocked.

Disable Windows firewall

Sassy 08-16-2007 02:45 AM

So if I disable the firewall some of this crap should actually work?

It should, your running Vista?

Sassy 08-16-2007 02:49 AM

I don't think I can just unblock the firewall...it takes me to all the security stuff on a list and asks me what "exceptions" I want to check.
